Green Waste Procedure: Town of Vivian
Green waste is any biodegradable waste that is predominantly carbon based that is high in nitrogen. The term includes such items as grass cuttings, dry leaves, twigs, sticks, hay clippings, paper, sawdust, cardboard, pine needles or cones, etc. Items that can be sustainably returned to carbon by means of burning or composting.
The Town of Vivian provides for the removal of the above described green waste as a free service to its citizens. There are (2) TWO ways to have green waste removed by our Town workers.
- Up to (4) four bags of green waste may be placed with your “blue” household garbage can on your regularly scheduled garbage pickup day. The green waste must be bagged and secured and placed next to your household garbage can. This will allow our household garbage contract workers to retrieve the bags at the same time as they empty your “blue” garbage container.
This procedure will reduce the cost of Town workers needed to survey individual streets for random bags of green waste. - If you have larger quantities of green waste (more than (4) four bags) you may access our website at (townofvivian.us), complete the form provided and follow the instructions for forwarding your request to our office. We will add your information to our pickup request list. The list will be printed out and forwarded to our Town maintenance personnel for pickup and disposal.
NOTE: Only green waste that fits within the above described categories will be picked up. We will not pick up large logs, construction waste products, roofing shingles, building demolition materials or other materials not in compliance with this policy.
